FPT Software has opened its largest campus in Vietnam amid plans to reach 30,000 employees by 2020.

Under the banner of F-Town 3, the new facility is the largest of six campuses across the country for the technology provider, located on the outskirts of Ho Chi Minh City.

Spanning 69,000 square meters, the campus is expected to initially accommodate 7,500 employees, with the subsidiary of FPT Corporation aiming to expand into a 30,000-strong workforce within the next 12 months.

“We believe that technological advancements should go hand in hand with people development,” said Hoang Nam Tien, chairman of FPT Software. “People are the heart of our business.

“Our goal is to give FPT Software employees a working environment that not only encourages creativity and innovation but also inspires them so together we could take on new challenges and leave our mark on the global tech map.”

The new campus features a research and development centre, in addition to seven office floors housing recreation facilities, childcare and a medical clinic.

“The world is now facing unprecedented opportunities and challenges in the 4th Industrial Revolution,” added Truong Gia Binh, chairman of FPT. “With this inspiring and modern campus, we hope to attract the new generation of talents, joining our journey as a pioneer in the revolution of digital transformation.”

Since launching in 1999, the 20-year-old software specialist has expanded from a Vietnamese provider to a global company with more than 17,000 employees across Asia Pacific, US and Europe.

The business has aspirations to become a billion-dollar IT and digital transformation services provider by 2024, providing services specific to cloud, digital, mobility, artificial intelligence and the Internet of Things.

“If you look at the market this year, more than US$1 trillion has been spent on digital transformation,” Binh added. “In the next three years, the market size will double. And if you talk about the digital economy, in the next five years, a quarter of the global GDP will come from digital economies.

"You have to start transforming as soon as possible. 36,000 FPT employees are heading towards becoming a global digital transformation solutions and services provider. That is our dream."

The new campus opening comes six weeks after FPT Software entered discussions with the Governor of Victoria in Australia about the potential deployment of smart technologies and autonomous vehicles.

As reported by Channel Asia, the technology giant hosted Governor Linda Dessau at the provider’s campus amid interest in building out smart city capabilities through augmented reality and virtual reality solutions.

“Victoria itself is very small physically, making up only three per cent of Australia’s mainland,” Governor Dessau said. “But we produce 27 per cent of food and fiber exports. So we always work on technology to keep ensuring that the small land area is so disproportionately productive.”
