To make room for the project, Deputy Prime Minister Trinh Dinh Dung has directed the relevant departments, agencies and authorities to step up efforts for the project. Dong Nai Province was named the main investor for the compensation, site clearance and resettlement processes.
The Government asked the ministries of Transport and of Planning and Investment to appraise the compensation requirements.
The Dong Nai authority was told to promptly address residents’ complaints and to issue harsh sanctions against land-related violations.
The ministries of Transport and National Defense were asked to collaborate with the Dong Nai government to declare the land boundaries for the project, map out an investment plan for each stage and determine the capital resources needed for connecting roads.
The Government ordered the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment to submit a report on the prices of land in the 2020-2024 period, as regulated.
Delayed site clearance efforts could slow the construction of the projected airport, according to the Government.
Besides this, the deputy prime minister appointed the Ministry of Transport and the committee for management of State capital at enterprises to direct the Airports Corporation of Vietnam (ACV) to step up the processes associated with the project after the National Assembly passes a feasibility study for the first phase of the project.
The Government recently reported to the National Assembly that it had chosen ACV as the investor for the first phase of the Long Thanh International Airport project in Dong Nai Province.
