IHG increases presence with venture into Ho Tram Strip

The Grand Ho Tram to be rebranded as InterContinental Grand Ho Tram within a year, while the new build Holiday Inn Resort Ho Tram Beach to open in 2020.

The InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG), one of the world’s leading hotel companies, has reinforced its growth in resort locations in Vietnam with two new hotels in southern province of Ba Ria Vung Tau.

IHG announced on November 7 an agreement signed agreements with the Ho Tram Project Company Limited (HTP) to rebrand The Grand Ho Tram at the Ho Tram Strip integrated resort to InterContinental Grand Ho Tram within a year after refurbishments. A newly-built Holiday Inn Resort Ho Tram Beach will also open in 2020.

The signing reinforces IHG’s growth in resort locations in Vietnam and strengthens its presence in the region.

“This signing marks a new milestone in our growth in Vietnam, as we welcome our first Holiday Inn Resort in the country and continue to expand our InterContinental brand,” said Ms. Serena Lim, Vice President, Development, for IHG South East Asia & Korea. “As international and domestic travel continues to grow, the expansion of the property and facilities puts us in a great position to provide different experiences for a diverse group of guests.”

As the first integrated resort to have opened in Vietnam, Ho Tram Strip has developed a reputation as one of Vietnam’s most popular leisure and offsite MICE locations due to its pristine beaches and short two-hour drive from Ho Chi Minh City. Its accessibility also makes it an attractive getaway for both domestic and international travelers.

With The Grand Ho Tram to be rebranded InterContinental Grand Ho Tram, the 533-key luxury property is an integrated resort with three F&B outlets, a state-of-the-art convention centre that can accommodate up to 1,300 people inclusive of a large ballroom and five meeting rooms, outdoor pools, gym, spa, golf course, along with a retail space featuring a multitude of entertainment options including restaurants, bars, lounges, clubs and a casino gaming floor.

Holiday Inn Resort Ho Tram Beach will be a 502-key hotel with facilities geared towards family fun. Guests can enjoy their time at swimming pools and enjoy captivating views of the long coastline at the 360-degree rooftop bar. The hotel will also have direct access to facilities including a cinema, a bowling alley, a food court, and a water park.

The two properties provide a strong MICE offering comprising of a variety of venues including: a convention centre for meetings and events which hosts up to 1,300 people, a casino for international visitors, F&B options as well as entertainment activities. Plans are underway to increase capacity to cater for larger events for up to 3,000 people, further enhancing the offer for MICE programmes.

Also situated on the Ho Tram Strip is the renown 18-hole links championship golf course, The Bluffs, designed by Greg Norman, and ranked top 100 in the world by Golf Digest.

IHG currently has 13 hotels in Vietnam, with more than half under the InterContinental brand, including award winning properties such as the acclaimed InterContinental Danang Sun Peninsula Resort and the InterContinental Phu Quoc Long Beach Resort.
