The first phase of the Hoiana Complex Resort will be completed by the end of this year and boast many facilities.

Covering an area of 165 ha, Phase 1 has an international-standard 18-hole golf course designed by Robert Trent Jones II, more than 1,000 hotel rooms and villas belonging to luxury brands such as Rosewood Hoi An, KHOS Hoiana, New World Hoiana Hotel and Residences, and Hoiana Hotel and Suites, and a food and entertainment complex.

When this first phase is put into operation, Hoiana expects to create more than 4,000 job opportunities. A staff village with modern facilities will also provide the best possible living environment.

The Hoiana project has a total area of 985.6 ha straddling three communes in central Quang Nam province: Duy Hai and Duy Nghia in Duy Xuyen district and Binh Duong in Thang Binh district.

With construction having gotten underway on April 24, 2016, Hoiana is being developed by three main developers - VinaCapital, SunCity, and VMS under Hong Kong’s Chow Tai Fook Group - with total investment of $4 billion. The project includes seven phases, to be built over the next 12 to 13 years.

Mr. Steve Wolstenholme, Chief Operating Officer of the Hoiana project, told VET that while the first phase has focused on resorts and tourists, the next phase will have property and a focus on developing small businesses. “It will not only be a destination for relaxation but also a lifestyle destination,” he added.

He believes central Vietnam is a very attractive tourist destination. Besides Da Nang, Hoi An is another interesting destination, attracting South Korean and Chinese tourists and many from elsewhere.

With a commitment to becoming a business partner and actively accompanying and supporting the local community in Quang Nam province in developing sustainable tourism, Hoiana cooperated with the Quang Nam Intermediate School of Culture, Arts and Tourism to officially launch the Quang Nam Tourism Training Center - Hoiana last March.

This is the first enterprise training model in the province and aims to provide vocational training courses in the tourism industry, including golf course maintenance and golf course management, as well as professional training courses on room services for hotels and on restaurant operations. The center has 151 trainees trained in golf course maintenance, golf course operation, and hotel room service. Of 136 students graduated, 102 have begun working at Hoiana.

“Hoiana understood that it was necessary to invest in people and attract and retain workers,” Mr. Wolstenholme said. “For employees, we always focus on training, bringing them to a higher level.”
