HCMC to renovate 108 old condominium buildings in 2019

Ho Chi Minh City authorities are planning to repair, renovate and dismantle more than 100 old condominium buildings to ensure the safety for people.

According to the plan of repairing and renovating old apartments accounced by the HCMC People's Committee on April 17, within this year, the city government is expected to carry out renovation at 108 old buildings; kick off construction of 8 new ones; and dismantle 7 ones that are seriously degraded.

In addition, the city also set goals for this year: to complete the relocation work for 729 households living in 12 Grade-D apartment buildings; and select investors for 11 out of 15 seriously damaged ones.

HCMC People's Committee has assigned the Department of Construction to disseminate tasks to organizations and individuals with the content of new documents related to construction materials, especially those related to rights and responsibilities of organizations and individuals in the process of manufacturing, trading and using construction materials products, quality management.

At the same time, the department also needs to strengthen the inspection, examination and handling of violations for those units under the inspection and the related units which have not implemented the remedial work.
