Accordingly, the new integrated urban center is set to cover an area of about 687ha. The population is predicted to reach 2,300 people by 2025. The center is adjacent to the aquaculture area (new urban area – Zone C2 of Mong Cai border gate economic zone) in the East; the aquaculture area and agricultural land (new urban area - Zone C2) in the South; the residential area, agricultural land, aquaculture area (new urban area – Zone C2) in the West; and the current residential area and agricultural land (existing urban area – Zone C3) in the North.
The planning aims to form a system of urban and service spaces that is harmoniously combined with the natural terrain, water surface and ecosystem, becoming a typical urban functional area of Mong Cai border gate economic zone. This is the legal basis for implementing detailed planning, establishing construction investment projects, managing construction and controlling urban development in accordance with the planning.
Besides, the planning approval also contributes to developing the administrative and financial center of Mong Cai city and Mong Cai border-gate economic zone. The urban area will be a center of commercial, financial and banking services, acting as the Western gateway of Mong Cai border-gate economic zone.
