After Minister of Public Security To Lam, Minister Ha was the second Government member to field questions at the question-and-answer session today, June 4, the local media reported.
According to Ha, Hanoi City has told the investor to dismantle the illegally-constructed parts of the 8B Le Truc building. The ministry is willing to dispatch its professional agencies to support the city if it asks for help, Ha said.
The minister insisted that the violations at the HH Linh Dam apartment complex be investigated, stating that the responsibility for handling these violations also rests with the government of Hanoi City.
Deputy Nguyen Thanh Hong from Binh Duong Province was dissatisfied with the minister’s answer, stressing the role of the ministry, especially in proposing the Government address difficulties faced by local authorities in the construction sector. The ministry must share responsibility for handling all construction violations with local governments, Hong said.
Minister Pham Hong Ha pointed out that the ministry had written to the city government in August 2017, urging the city to instruct the relevant agencies to promptly handle the violations found at the 8B Le Truc building and ensure its safety.
The ministry also assigned the appraisal bureau to work with the Hanoi Department of Construction to address the problem, Ha said, reiterating that the ministry will continue to support the city government if the city is in need of help.
National Assembly Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan asked Deputy Prime Minister Trinh Dinh Dung to field questions related to the problem tomorrow, June 5.
The building at 8B Le Truc Street was licensed to be 53 meters tall, with 18 storeys, but its actual height is 69 meters, with 19 storeys. Thus, the project owner violated the construction license in raising the height of the building without prior permission.
