The tops of many bus stops along Lang Street, Thien Quang Lake or at Hanoi Post Office have been covered with plants. The idea has attracted a lot of attention.
The project was carried out in October and is intended to raise public awareness about using public transport, while helping play a modest role in minimizing emissions.
65-year-old Nguyen Mai Khang, a resident on Hoang Hoa Tham Street, said she was a regular bus user. "The plants make me feel cooler, the surrounding area is less stuffy and improve the appearance of the bus stops," she said.
The plants used are hardy enough to survive with little care and play a part in helping cope with emissions.
Pham Lan Anh, a 20-year-old student from Foreign Trade University said, "I often travel by bus but this is the first time I noticed the bus stops because of the plants. I think this is a great idea and hopefully, they will be planted at more bus stops."
