At a meeting March 4, authorities of Ho Chi Minh City discussed the establishment of a real estate service center in the Southern city.

Speaking at the meeting, Chairman of the HCMC Real Estate Association (HoREA) Le Hoang Chau noted local residents and firms have faced difficulties in accessing information about real estate projects.

Mr. Chau said several housing developers have provided inaccurate information or the municipal State agencies have not updated the list of mortgaged housing projects that have been released from their mortgages. In addition, some developers have mortgaged apartments that have already been sold or have sold a single apartment to multiple buyers, resulting in further disputes.

Tran Vinh Tuyen, Vice Chairman of HCMC People’s Committee suggested the city develop a center for real estate service to offer all information on planning, legal issues and construction progress of housing projects. Municipal departments and agencies will be responsible for providing the information.

Besides, the Vice Chairman asked the Trade and Investment Promotion Center of HCMC to collabrate with HoREA, Departments of Construction, Natural Resources and Environment, Planning and Investment to study the project. These departments will have to provide accurate information on property projects when the service center is completed and put into operation.

In addition, Mr Tuyen emphasized that the study should mention specifically both the advantages and disadvantages of the project, as well as criteria to develop property center for the Southern region and the whole country.
