Ho Chi Minh City to tighten licensing for construction projects

The People's Committee of Ho Chi Minh City (HCMC) said in recent time, the subdivision of land plots for sale has occurred rampantly with improper infrastructure, causing many complicated problems.

In fact, this situation usually occurs in Binh Chanh and Hoc Mon districts and has not been handled yet. In the coming time, the city authorities will attempt drastically to prevent this situation.

Report of the HCMC People's Committee showed, by the end of June this year, the number of construction permits granted by the city authorities increased by 6% over the same period last year, or 21,938 construction permits, with a total construction area of 7,095,256.08 sqm.

In the first half of this year, 4,729 administrative sanctions were issued by the city authorities, with 1,136 cases out of 1,640 violations, up 37.6% year-on-year. In which, there are 616 cases of construction without permission, 619 cases of wrong construction, and 405 other violations. 

Under the direction of the city People's Committee and the Department of Construction, local authorities in areas where many cases of illegal construction occur such as District 9, Binh Chanh and Hoc Mon districts must tighten the licensing and strictly handle construction works without permission, wrong permission. From now until the end of the year, the city government will review the construction of houses in the localities.
