Luxury hotels and resorts in short supply
Located more than 100km from Ho Chi Minh City and part of the Southern Key Economic Zone, Ba Ria-Vung Tau province has abundant potential for tourism development by virtue of its 300km-plus coastline. Additionally, the province is home to diverse natural reserve sites, historical relics, and traditional festivals to act out the provincial management’s development orientations for ocean, eco, and spiritual tourism, as well as meetings, incentives, conferences, and exhibitions (MICE) tourism.
The provincial leaders, however, expressed concerns that the province is facing a serious undersupply of medium and high-end hotels and resort venues that feature modern facilities and are operated and managed by global hotel brands, a prime factor helping the province to avail itself of its abundant potential and draw in more local and international visitors.
Brightening Vung Tau tourism picture
At the meeting, a Novaland representative shared that the group will focus on augmenting the value chain for sustainable tourism development, with priority given to developing tour packages set to utilize the province’s available advantages, such as ocean and MICE tours. The expanded project portfolio will help the province attract more visitors, prolong their stay, boost tourism revenue, and create more jobs for local workers.
Furthermore, Novaland has teamed up with high-profile global hotel operators for local and international visitors, turning Ba Ria-Vung Tau into a regional tourism-relaxation-entertainment centre.
This June, Novaland brought to exposure its premier tourism-entertainment complex NovaWorld Ho Tram with the scale of about 1,000ha which is promoted under the second-home concept. The development features villas, shophouses, and an upscale tourism-entertainment complex. The project, divided into 10 development phases, encompasses premier items for entertainment such as a salt-water swimming pool, a channel for kayaking and boat racing, and a large safari, among others, helping to enrich the province’s luxury tourism offerings.
Apart from project investment and development, in the previous years, Novaland has been accompanying wide-ranging community-oriented activities across Ba Ria-Vung Tau province with funding of millions of US dollars.
Backing localities to reach for sustainable tourism
On November 7 the group took part in the Mekong Connect 2019 forum in the Mekong Delta city of Can Tho, which featured the presence of more than 700 delegates from diverse government authorised management agencies, leaders of localities, local and foreign experts, and students from several universities. At the event, a Novaland representative gave a presentation about ways to spur the delta’s tourism to adapt to climate change implications.

Along with that, the Mekong Delta is set to grow into Asia’s No.1 waterway tourism venue. To achieve this goal, localities in the region must invest in infrastructure, accommodations, and associated services right now to meet the demands of the 19 million visitors who will stay overnight, with 30 per cent coming from overseas in the not distant future.
In this context, Novaland – with its well-established reputation – is one of the business groups having the capacity to team up with the local governments and build a seamless infrastructure network in the region. In light of foreign consultant BCG’s development strategy for the province, Novaland is deploying NovaWorld Mekong project in Can Tho city centre. This international-standard resort complex is expected to change people’s mind about the way the delta is doing tourism, while simultaneously propelling local tourism development associated with presenting agriculture and the distinctive local culture. The prime target is turning the Mekong Delta into a global tourism destination.
In the southern province of Binh Thuan, Novaland has financed consulting firm McKinsey to outline the province’s tourism development plan. Binh Thuan aims to become a globally recognised resort destination. The group is deploying its 1,000ha NovaWorld Phan Thiet in the province which features nearly 200 distinct facilities.
As a major real estate developer with a pioneering spirit, Novaland wishes to play a role in turning Vietnam’s prime areas with abundant development potential into alluring tourism venues, accompanying localities’ efforts to develop sustainable tourism, striving for the successful implementation of the national tourism development strategy.
