The Housing and Urban Development Corporation (HUD) on June 27 began construction on its social housing project with 14 blocks in the urban area.
As planned, the social housing project will cover an area of 5.2 hectares in the Thanh Lam - Dai Thinh 2 new urban area. The project will consists of fourteen 6-floor blocks, providing 1,030 social apartments, from 52-69 sqm. It is expected to be complete by 2021.
The project has 14 six-storey buildings, with apartments having a floor space ranging 52-69 square metres. It is designed with gardens, parking lots, playgrounds and miniatures, and has connection with comprehensive technical infrastructure in Thanh Lam-Dai Thinh 2 urban area as well as Me Linh district.
Thanh Lam - Dai Thinh 2 social housing project is aimed at providing affordable apartments for workers in industrial parks in the North of Hanoi. In addition, the project will also be a highlight of the urbanization process in Me Linh – the Northen gateway of the capital city.
Deputy Minister of Construction Bui Pham Khanh spoke highly of HUD’s considerable experience in housing development, and asked the corporation to priority resources to the project.
Besides, he ordered the firm to ensure construction quality, labour safety and environmental hygiene.
HUD must be transparent in its sales process, and provide good services for residents, he stressed.
Previously, between 2012 and 2017, HUD Corporation and its subsidiaries invested and put into use more than 2,100 apartments for low-income people in different projects, providing a total of 140,000sqm housing floor. Some of its notable projects include Southwest Linh Dam new urban area (Hanoi), affordable apartment complex in Phu Son Ward (Thanh Hoa), low-cost apartment complex in Neighborhood 3-4 (Thai Binh), and Le Thai To new urban area (Bac Ninh).
