According to VBSP, fifty-nine cities and provinces across the country provided social housing loans for home buyers, with total loan outstanding balance of VND905 billion. In particular, Northern and Central cities/provinces borrowed most. Hanoi led the list with VND62 billion, followed by Ha Tinh VND54 billion; Khanh Hoa VND52 billion; Da Nang VND50 billion; Quang Nam VND50 billion; Hung Yen VND33 billion; Bac Giang VND30 billion; Thanh Hoa VND30 billion; Bac Ninh VND26 billion; Quang Binh VND20 billion; and Thua Thien – Hue VND20 billion.
Last year, the annual interest rates for preferential loans to rent and buy social housing or build or upgrade/repair houses under the Government’s Decree 100/2015 was 4.8 percent. Annual interest rate for this year has not been approved by the Prime Minister.
