Hundreds of policemen, firefighters, security forces and healthcare staffers were dispatched to the project for the demolition.
The act was aimed at forcing Tran Thi Minh Trang, the owner of the project, to restore the status of the land covering an area of some 7,270 square meters.
Tran Thi Hai Yen, chairwoman of Tan Quy Tay Commune, stated that the relevant authorities would be tearing down 12 components of the Gia Trang Tram Chim Resort today and tomorrow. These components are hotels built on agricultural land.
After the demolition of these components, the competent authorities will continue removing the remaining illegal parts of the resort.
A source from the government of Binh Chanh District noted that Trang had used the agricultural land for business and commercial purposes, which went against the approved land use plan, resulting in the decision to demolish the project.
The project was built in 2015 and included various major components such as hotel rooms, massage and karaoke rooms and a large gate.
