Cai Rang district will be home to Can Tho's administrative center

This is one of the contents in the planning task for Cai Rang district by 2030, with a vision towards 2050, which has just been approved by Can Tho municipal People's Committee on February 27.

A corner of the current administrative center of Can Tho City.

The administrative center of Can Tho City is currently located in Ninh Kieu District, but in the future, it will be moved to Cai Rang District, away from the old site by the Can Tho River.

Under the planning, the new administrative center will be located in the entire administrative boundary of Cai Rang district. In addition, the Cai Rang urban - industrial zone as well as Cai Rang district will be developed with the main functions as follows:

- Central administrative center of Can Tho City;

- Trade and service center of the city as well as Mekong Delta region;

- Center of industrial and port service, traffic hub for waterways, roads and railways;

- Cultural center of the region; eco-tourism center of the city and the region.
