Can you share a bit about yourself?
Before I started working in Vietnam, I have worked in several countries on three continents. After over 27 years in the hospitality business and almost 19 years as a general manager, I am very happy to be at Radisson Blu Resort Phu Quoc, which really impressed me in terms of its environment, associates, and philosophy.
I enjoy being surrounded by interesting people who can extend my horizon not only in terms of understanding different cultures but also as a source of inspiration. My previous experiences in other developing countries helped me a lot to settle in my current role as general manager in Phu Quoc.
What motivates me to go to work every day is my team and be a trailblazer, making paths for others to follow. I want to inspire people to reach higher, dream bigger, and achieve greater.
We have created a remarkable setting here at Phu Quoc with world-class facilities and signature services and concepts. We are very proud to see our hard work and creativity being recognised during the past year. On behalf of the team, I would like to thank all the guests, partners, and media representatives who have acknowledged our efforts in creating exciting guest experiences.
What is your opinion about Phu Quoc’s tourism in comparison to other destinations you have worked at?
Phu Quoc Island is a rising star for luxury tourism in Asia and has a lucrative tourism market and lots of potential in the real estate market for tourism and resorts. Much of this success can be attributed to the fact that Phu Quoc had started to attract more strategic investors who were directing major investments into the island’s tourism infrastructure and services.
With this successful formula working its magic, and more major high-end developments in the pipeline, Phu Quoc will certainly fulfil its destiny as one of the world’s most attractive destinations.
Which highlights should guests not miss at Radisson Blu Resort Phu Quoc?
Situated on the picturesque Northwest coast of Phu Quoc island, Radisson Blu Resort Phu Quoc features 514 exquisite rooms, suites and villas, including 10 spacious private pool villas, our all-day dining restaurant Avenue, the cosy lobby bar Annex, the business-class lounge ALUMI, the swimming pool bar Azure, and our kid’s club Giggles. Moreover, guests can find water and amusement parks, a convention centre, a golf course, and a conservation park right in the vicinity.
We are also excited to announce that for the past year, our resort has received a lot of awards, including the “Most Preferred CSR Initiative” award from the Golden Globe Tiger, for all sustainable actions we have taken so far; the “Family Retreat Resort” award from the AsiaPacific Travel Tourism Award Federation; the World Luxury Hotel Award, in the category Luxury Island Resort; and the “SafeHotel Premium Award” which stands for high standards in security for customers and employees.
What is the most exciting mission regarding environment and community responsibility that your resort has been involved in?
Taking responsibility for the environment and local community has been an important part of Radisson Hotel Group’s commitment to sustainable development for many years. This commitment was fortified and placed within the scope of a programme called Responsible Business. At Radisson Blu Resort Phu Quoc, we are proud to have a unique responsible business action plan covering areas such as community outreach, environmental improvement, employee well-being, health, and safety.
We are proud to have established the first resort straw farm, growing bamboo on our beachfront grounds and thereby becoming the first international hotel in Vietnam to harvest its own bamboo straws in a bid to protect the environment. We also joined forces with hygiene and cleaning solutions company Diversey to participate in ‘Soap for Hope’.
As part of the programme, the resort hands over its used hotel soaps which are then recycled into fresh soap and finally distributed to local communities. Joining the global charity campaign, our target is to have each of our hotels sponsor the upbringing and education of at least one child per hotel and establish meaningful relationships with the SOS Children’s Villages in each country. Moreover, we established the Radisson Blu Bee Garden Project with its mission to inspire, educate, and connect communities and visitors to increase the awareness of honeybees and to support food sustainability.
What is the meaning of “Yes I Can”? How is this philosophy applied for guests?
