The FLC Group has proposed the Hanoi People’s Committee consider its idea of planning and investing in a complex of stadiums, tourism services, and entertainment in the capital.

Construction of the complex is proposed for either Dong Anh, Me Linh, or Soc Son districts, with total capital of VND25 trillion ($1 billion) in the first phase.

Mr. Le Thanh Vinh, Deputy Chairman of FLC, said the project is expected to have a main group of sporting complexes, with a highlight being a stadium with 100,000 seats and a roof, which would meet the requirements for organizing international sporting events.

Covering an area of 1,000 to 2,000 ha, FLC also proposed other items such as a golf course, a Formula 1 track, a five-star hotel and resort, multimedia complexes for international conferences, an entertainment area, a commercial and financial center, healthcare zones, including a convalescence hospital, an international summer camp with a combination of educational and scientific activities for children, horse racing, a zoo, a theme park, a central square, and a centralized shopping area.

Such items will be planned with transport infrastructure and technical infrastructure different from neighboring projects, in particular the area approaching Noi Bai International Airport.

If the proposal is approved, these items will be directly invested in an operated by the FLC Group, ensuring design standards throughout the project.

“If the Hanoi People’s Committee approves the idea and introduces a suitable location, FLC will invest in and complete the project in the shortest possible time, contributing to turning Hanoi into one of the most impressive tourist cities in Asia,” Mr. Vinh said.

The FLC Group recently announced the first commercial flight of its Bamboo Airways. Established in 2017, the carrier is a member of the FLC Group, has charter capital of VND700 billion ($31.1 million), and is a pioneer in the hybrid model, combining traditional and low-cost operations.

From March to June 2018, it signed two agreements to purchase A321neo and 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft worth $8.8 billion from Airbus and Boeing. The airline is also leasing 20 aircraft to operate in the first quarter of 2019 as well as additional wide-bodied aircraft.
