The government has officially approved the establishment of FLC University in northern Quang Ninh province.

On the basis of evaluations and submissions by the Ministry of Education and Training (MoET) and professional agencies under the Office of the Government and with the Prime Minister’s approval, Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam officially signed Document No. 664 / TTg-KGVX permitting the establishment of the university.

Operating under a non-profit private university model, the project was positively received by MoET and passed appraisals by relevant agencies and units.

FLC University will be built on some 50 ha in Ha Lam and Ha Trung wards in Ha Long city, Quang Ninh province, with total initial capital estimated at VND4 trillion ($172 million).

The university aims to achieve QS, ASEAN University Network (AUN), and AACSB ratings for business administration programs in the shortest time to help students study in a world-class educational environment in Ha Long without having to go abroad.

With three key majors, including high technology, tourism, and aviation, the university expects to enroll its first students at the end of 2020, with an initial enrollment of 600, which is to increase to 6,100 by 2024 and 10,000 by 2035.

In order to meet the 2020 enrollment plan, human resources and high-quality facilities for training are also being quickly deployed by the FLC Group.

The FLC Group is implementing legal procedures with the Quang Ninh Provincial People’s Committee to complete paperwork in land allocation, land lease, and other legal procedures so that construction may begin this year.

Cooperative efforts and the signing of memoranda of understanding (MoUs) with many universities and colleges in the field of high technology, tourism, and aviation in the country have been undertaken quickly, promising the introduction of international-standard training programs and contributing to improving the quality of Vietnamese human resources in the era of Industry 4.0 and international integration.
