Regarding urban regeneration in District 3, the city’s People Committee asked the Department of Planning and Architecture, HCMC Institute for Development Studies and relevant agencies to draw urban design along the Nhieu Loc- Thi Nghe canal.
Accordingly, the design aims to regenerate the area around the canal synchronously and link with general renewal plan of the city.
The city’s People Committee noted that the department should take heed of function of land use and canal sections. For example, several canal sections will be used for tourism; therefore, the department should design bridges with proper height for boat to pass through.
In addition, the department must keep historic and cultural sites and greenery space when undertaking urban construction.
Beside, the city government also asked the Department of Natural Resources and Environment and relevant agencies to make proposal on a forum for land management along the canals.
