The time needed for completing housing approval procedures in Ho Chi Minh City has been cut to 15 days from 57 days under the previous regulation, said Nguyen Toan Thang, Head of the city’s Department of Natural Resources and Environment.

The news was revealed at a recent meeting on administrative reform, with the attendance of HCMC Party Chief Nguyen Thien Nhan.

Mr Thang was quoted by the local media as saying that his department has introduced various solutions to simplify procedures of housing approval, for example, boosting application of information and technology, creating an one-door system for land management and teaming up with tax agencies through online connections.

Additionally, the Department of Natural Resources and Environment is also collaborating with the Department of Construction in terms of conducting the housing registration process; granting certificates of land use rights; registering the ownership of houses and land-related properties in a simplified way. Thanks to these attempts, last year, some 207 house-related cases were handled within 15 days each.

Mr. Thang proposed relevant ministries and agencies remove 35 obstacles involving land, previously reported by the city, while authorizing agencies to reduce the time needed for housing approval procedures in order to serve local residents better with simplified administrative procedures.

In response to the proposal, Party Chief Nhan assigned the Department of Natural Resources and Environment to keep executing the administrative reform to minimize the number of housing procedures.
