The first phase of the VinSmart manufacturing plant in Hoa Lac Hi-tech Park (Hanoi) has been inaugurated on November 23. The facility will manufacture smartphones, smart and high-tech devices by cutting-edge production lines, carving out a spot for VinSmart on the world map of high-tech companies.
The plant, once in place, is expected to become a modern electronic product manufacturing hub in the northern region, contributing to establishing a foothold on the global market. The plant will produce high-quality smartphones and smart electronics.
The electronics manufacturing factory covers an area of 14.8 hectares and has a total capacity of 125 million units per year. The first phase sprawls across 4.8 hectares of land to manufacture electronic boards, smartphones, and built several R&D facilities.
The capacity of the first phase is 26 million devices per year, including 23 million smartphones, one million IoT devices (Internet of Things), and two million other products.
Complemented and upgraded by subsequent phases, this will be one of the most modern manufacturing plants in the region, with production lines imported from the US, Germany, Japan, and South Korea to create a closed, automatic, and highly efficient production process.
These products will be tested carefully for their quality and safety before being rolled out on the market.
In addition, VinSmart has invited some partners from the United States, Europe and Russia to make an overall evaluation of the plant, from its production lines, machines, quality standards and manufacturing processes to its information technology management system to ensure they can meet the requirements of global partners.
In addition to the cutting-edge infrastructure of the plant, VinSmart also gathered hundreds of engineers, scientists, and experts for the design and development of high-tech products and work at its R&D facilities. The first 5G devices are expected to be released in 2020.
As such, Vsmart-branded electronic products are eligible to serve the global market.
Apart from its advanced facilities, VinSmart has cooperated with hundreds of experienced engineers, scientists, designers and researchers to turn out the best products.
Speaking at the inauguration ceremony of the first phase of the plant on November 23, Le Thi Thu Thuy, vice president of Vingroup and general director of VinSmart, stated that launching breakthrough smart electronic products will play an important role in making Vietnam a major technology product manufacturer and exporter.
"Manufacturing smart devices will be a foundation for Vietnam to become a global center for manufacturing and exporting high-tech products, as well as confirm the position of Vingroup on the map of the world's technology companies," Thuy said.
VinSmart has built a factory in Haiphong and Hoa Lac High Tech Park and teamed up with international partners to leverage new product research and production capabilities to gradually put its name on the global technology map and contribute to expanding the product ecosystem in the country, she said.
Within a single year since its establishment, VinSmart has partnered with the world's leading technology firms like Qualcomm and Google, as well as released eight smartphone models, which are also exported to international markets like Spain, Myanmar, and Russia.
