Chung made the suggestion during a reception on February 21 for Vice Mayor of Toulouse Jean-Claude Dardelet, who is also Vice President at the Toulouse Metropolis board.

The Vietnamese official appreciated the recent cooperation between Hanoi and the French city, noting that Hanoi will speed up archaeological excavation to swiftly prepare the investment plan for their cooperation project in the Thang Long Imperial Citadel, and that Hanoi is financially capable of cooperating with Toulouse in the project.

Jean-Claude Dardelet said Hanoi and Toulouse have jointly worked on many projects, most notably the archaeological project in the Thang Long Imperial Citadel.

The collaboration helps promote the heritage, and historical and cultural values of the site to tourists, including those from the French city, he noted.

He affirmed that in the framework of the project, Toulouse will share methods of archaeological excavation and experience in building the list of artifacts, restoring artifacts, and in training those working in preservation work.

The project not only helps conserve cultural heritage, but also brings economic value to Hanoi, he said.

During their meeting, the officials also discussed information related to the 11th upcoming Vietnam-France decentralised cooperation conference in Toulouse, which will focus on the key issues of climate change, economic investment, promotion of tangible and intangible values, education, healthcare, and education.

The event is also hoped to further enhance links between the two countries’ business communities.
