The proposal was made at a recent meeting between the Party Committees of HCMC and District 12 about implementation of the Party’s resolution in the 2015-2020 tenure.
Local authorities should enhance implementation of social and rental housing projects, Mr Nhan emphasized. He said districts with few vacant land lots for building condominium should expand housing near the available residential quarters and commercial service.
In addition, local authorities should build more schools, parks, medical establishments, entertainment areas so that immigrants can enjoy facilities to feel connected with the new land and contribute more to the growth of the city.
Tran Huu Tri, Party Chief of District 12 said each year, over 22,000 immigrants from all corners of the country moved to the district and settle there.
Population growth is a driving force for the economy. However, on the other hand, it has also put more pressure on local administrations in handling with social issues related to housing, schools and social security.
Besides, Chairman of People’s Committee Le Hoang Ha said Go Vap’s population has had additional 280,000 residents. Major of immigrants the district have been working in small-scale commercial services. Therefore, the management of economy, society and residence bumped into barriers.
No vacant land will be for building houses and business a few next years, Mr. Ha fretted.
Each district has been facing same difficulties as districts 12 and Go Vap especially houses for immigrants, Mr Nhan said, adding that local administrations should focus on handling social security, housing, schools and transportation so that everyone can enjoy same benefit.
