The city leader said highlight of smart city is to issue accurate forecasts about foreseeable problems to help local authorities to avoid difficulties as well as mistakes in decision-making process.
He added that the HCMC’s new socio-economic forecasting and simulation center plays a significant role in smart city project.
The new center is expected to mobilize contribution of intellectuals in the country and other centers over the world as well as artificial intelligence in forecasting and simulating for the growth of HCMC.
This is one of important pillars in the smart city project, along with a common-use shared database, a smart administration center, and an information security center.
In the first phase of the project, the center under the HCMC Institute for Development Studies will analyze and forecast matters related to socio-economic growth.
Accordingly, collected data will be provided to city leaders so that they can easily grasp and evaluate the data, thereby solutions for traffic jams and inundation will be resolved more properly and effectively.
In short-term, Mr. Nhan requested the center to provide socio-economic results of 2020 to 2025 to report in the next meeting by October of the municipal Party Committee.
