The senior Party official made the suggestion while chairing a working session with the ministry on April 10, on five years of implementing Resolution No. 33-NQ/TW by the 11th Party Central Committee on "Building and developing Vietnamese culture and people to meet the requirements of national sustainable development".
Thuong, who is also Head of the Party Central Committee’s Commission for Communications and Education, stressed the importance that building and developing Vietnamese culture and people’s values has had throughout the history of Vietnam’s revolution.
He praised the efforts by the ministry during the implementation of the Resolution, with important results achieved, especially in advising the Government to issue documents, directives and legal documents to protect and promote cultural heritages, exploit the value of cultural heritages for tourism development and promote cultural institution construction at the grassroots level.
He suggested that the cultural sector analyses any limitations and weaknesses, including the State management over cultural development, the limited quality and efficiency of cultural and artistic activities and the invasion over cultural heritages, thus finding appropriate measures to cope with the issues.
The ministry needs to improve the quality of advising the Government, while studying new issues and promoting the implementation of the Resolution, Thuong added.
