Statistics from the Kien Giang provincial Tourism Department showed that Phu Quoc welcomed 402,642 visitors in September during the low tourist season. The figure represented a year-on-year rise of 29.7 percent. Of the total visitors, 43,590 were foreign tourists, up 90.6 percent compared to figures over the same period last year. During the month, the island district earned 493.7 billion VND from tourism activities, representing an increase of 40.3 percent from last September.

This influx was reflected strongly over the two days of the National Holiday, where the Island served 32,000 tourists, an increase of 32.1 percent. Tourism alone generated a revenue of 30.1 billion VND – 58.2 percent increase of that last year.

In the first nine months of this year, Phu Quoc welcomed nearly 3 million visitors, earning 4.2 trillion VND, according to the department.

The breakthrough in Phu Quoc’s tourism is thanks to luxury resorts in South Phu Quoc invested by Sun Group. South Phu Quoc has become a magnet for tourists instead of North Phu Quoc.
