Apart from the in-store channel, the VinMart and VinMart+ chain is looking to develop online channels, including mobile apps, websites and ecommerce platforms, to ease online shopping. The plan is aimed at building a multichannel retail network.
Thai Thi Thanh Hai, general director of VinCommerce, shared the firm’s business strategy at a conference on the occasion of the fifth anniversary of the VinMart and VinMart+ retail chain on Phu Quoc Island on November 12.
Currently, the VinMart and VinMart+ retail chain is one of the country’s largest store chains, with 2,600 supermarkets and stores in 50 provinces and cities in Vietnam.
In May this year, VinCommerce rolled out the VinMart Scan&Go function on the VinID app. Customers can open their VinID app, select the Scan&Go function and scan the QR codes of the product they want to buy at its supermarkets to make payments on the app. The products are then delivered in a few hours.
Over the past few months, VinCommerce has performed actively in the merger and acquisition market. The firm has taken over the Queenland Mart store chain. In addition, in April, it took over 87 Shop&Go convenience stores at the price of only US$1.
